The Mallery Room is the home of the Mallery Concert Series, and functions as a performance, rehearsal, and classroom space. Within its walls, there lives a Moller Pipe Organ, a beautiful Bösendorfer concert grand piano, a Heartz harpsichord, and a Wolf forte-piano, so it is equipped for any rehearsal or performance situation.
The room plays host to the Rutgers Camden Choir under the direction of Professor Julia Zavadsky, the Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Professor Eric Polack and the Madrigals Ensemble under the direction of distinguished professor of music, Dr. Julianne Baird. All three ensembles can be found rehearsing in the Mallery Room several times a week.
In 1987 the room was dedicated to Dorothy Mallery, Grand Organist Emerita. Known as “A Friend of Rutgers,” Mallery’s name graces a plaque on the wall of her namesake room.
The Mallery Room can be found on the second floor of the Fine Arts Building, down the hall from the main office and most classrooms.
