Exhibition: Reynier Llanes: Pursuit of Grace

September 18 - December 13

Reynier Llanes’ paintings of imagined landscapes engage visual metaphors that explore personal, cultural, environmental, and social inquiries. Through these subjects, he asks philosophical questions about time and human experience. His work reminds us that discomfort is a necessary companion on the path to a hopeful and graceful future.

This exhibition features previous works from 2017 through 2024 as well as new works created for this exhibition at Rutgers—Camden.

About the artist: Born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba in 1985. He attended the city’s school of art (Instructores de Arte) for four years and completed his studies in 2004. In 2012 Oxford America recognized him as one of the “New Superstars of Southern Art.” Llanes relocated with his family to Miami in 2015 in order to take advantage of the city’s international art market and vibrant cultural life and to be closer to his home country. His work is represented by prestigious institutions like Harmon Meek Gallery in Naples, FL, featured in public collections like the Denver Art Museum and presented at The Butler Institute of American Art, the Polk Musuem of Art, among many others. For the years to come, Reynier would continue to work with institutions and communities in a series of projects focused on exploring the diverse sides of human nature and his exploration of art mediums and techniques.
