Ben Panter
Lecturer of Art (Photography)
M.F.A. Moore College of Art and Design
Biography
Ben Panter received his Bachelor of Arts in Art with Distinction from Rutgers. In 2012 he was awarded his Masters of Fine Art in Studio Art from Moore College of Art and Design. His undergrad studies were primarily photography based, but his graduate program was cross-disciplinary, which reflects in his current work by freely mixing photographic and non-photographic media. Through a variety of subject matter, Panter’s work approaches imagery through the native language of photography, addressing the viewer’s relationship to the medium.
Residencies are an integral part of his practice; he has had the opportunity to be in studio residencies at Burren College of Art, Ireland; Artscape Gibraltar Point, Toronto; Rocky Mountain National Park, CO; Acadia National Park, ME; and Catoctin Mountain Park, MD. He has also had several teaching residency opportunities in North Camden schools through the Rutgers – Camden Center for the Arts and the Office of Civic Engagement. Panter maintains his studio practice from his home in South Jersey and he actively exhibits his work locally and nationally.
