Happy Feature Friday! This week, we are shining a light on King Cohen! King is an Urban Studies and Intermedia major graduating in the Fall of ‘26! King started as an Urban Studies major because he is really into activism and programs like public housing. The urban studies program allowed him to learn more about the social topics he was interested in and provided him with several role models along the way. After taking a sculpture class with Prof. Demaray, he decided to pursue an arts degree in Intermedia to complement his already flourishing artistic background and his urban studies degree. His ultimate goal in pursuing an art degree is to bring about social change through his art, and intermedia allowed him to experiment with whatever media helped him achieve that goal. Most of King’s art consists of public murals around the world, with some of his favorites in Australia, Amsterdam, Philadelphia, and Kentucky. King has a strong artistic background in graffiti, and because of that, his work stands out much more. Fun Facts: King is originally from Texas, both of his parents are artists, and his favorite meal is steak with a baked potato, bacon, and sour cream!
The annual thesis show is almost here! Join us in celebrating the opening of this year’s thesis show, ART CAN! The show features work by graduating students in Graphic Design, Photography, Animation, Painting and Drawing, Intermedia and Electronic Arts, and Filmmaking. The students’ work showcases how art is more than just an academic discipline and physical objects. They show how art can deepen our understanding, transform how we see the world, and communicate meaning in ways that truly resonate. The show will be open from April 21st to May 21st, with an opening reception on May 16th at 5 pm.

Elizabeth Straub is a Graphic Design Major who is graduating at the end of the Spring ‘26 semester and is our Friday Feature for the week! When she was a kid, she wanted to be a psychologist and help people. When she came to Rutgers-Camden, she started as a pre-med major to fulfill that childhood dream. She quickly realized that pre-med wasn’t for her and found that Graphic Design would give her the outlet she wanted to help and communicate with people while still being creative! One of her biggest accomplishments was getting a Graphic Design Internship last semester with Prof. Stass Shpanin. The internship really helped her advance her skills and find her artistic voice. The skills she gained from the internship have also helped her when working on her thesis, show works, and other work she is still doing for the VMPA! Fun Fact: Her dream job is to work for the National Park Service, creating graphics for their social media and fundraisers. You can see more of Elizabeth’s work in the upcoming Thesis show, ART CAN!
