The Rutgers–Camden Orchestra Ensemble is the newest destination for musicians, both amateur and more advanced. Under the direction of Professor Stefán Arnarson, expect great camaraderie and great music—from Haydn to heavy metal. Starting with a chamber ensemble the first few weeks, the orchestra will grow to be able to cover Romantic and 20th-Century repertoire.
The orchestra meets every Saturday morning from 9:30 am to noon. This is a “reading” orchestra, where participants are emailed exciting new music every week in preparation for the following rehearsal. After exploring and playing the new pieces together at each rehearsal, the group will pick their favorite pieces for a concert at the end of the semester.
Rutgers students who have an instrumental background are especially encouraged to apply (music majors can also receive credit), but all musicians in the area are welcome to join.
