Biography

Diana Maddison graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers-Camden in the spring of 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Art History and History. A member of the Honors College, Diana was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honors Society and the Phi Alpha Theta History Society. She was twice awarded the Kissinger Scholarship for Academic Excellence and obtained research grants to study abroad in London, Prague, and Budapest. During her undergraduate education, Diana was avidly engaged in Rutgers’ theater program, starring as Laura Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie (spring 2014) and Gwendolyn Fairfax in The Importance of Being Earnest (spring 2015).

From Rutgers, Diana went on to complete her Master’s degree in The History of Art and Visual Culture at the University of Oxford specializing in French Impressionism and Modernism. After completing her dissertation, Diana acted as a tutor for visiting high school students. Touring Oxford’s museums and chapels with her pupils, she most enjoyed creating engaging lessons and entertaining gallery talks. Then returning to the Philadelphia area, Diana interned at the Barnes Foundation, a museum housing an impressive collection of French masterworks including art by Degas, Cézanne, Renoir, Manet, and Van Gogh. During her internship she assisted with the installation of Live and Life will Give You Pictures: Masterworks of French Photography, 1890-1950 (Oct. 2016 – Jan. 2017).

For the past three months, Diana has been a curatorial intern at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York working on an exhibition opening this summer, Mystical Symbolism: The Salon de la Rose + Croix in Paris, 1892-1897 (June – Sept. 2017). Anticipating the show’s opening, Diana has described it as “a stunning collection of mystical artworks depicting femme fatales, chimeras, androgynous creatures, and dazzling princesses.” Spring of 2018, Diana began working as a Client Service Representative for Christie’s Auction House, the international leader in fine art sales. Preparing clients for selling and purchasing the world’s most prized artworks, Diana could not be more thrilled to begin on this new and exciting career path.
