Happy Feature Friday! Today, we are featuring Prof. Daniel Ostrov! He is a sculpting teacher here at Rutgers-Camden, but he also teaches at other schools and continues to create astonishing works of art in his time. Prof. Ostrov was raised in Madison, Wisconsin, and lived in New Orleans before moving to the East Falls in Philadelphia. He also has a few degrees, including his Bachelor`s in Fine Arts and Classical Studies and his Master`s in Glass from the Tyler School of Art. Prof. Ostrov is skilled in many different sculpting mediums, some of which include glass, wood, clay and metal. One of his favorite pieces that he has done so far is his piece called Koan. It`s a piece that he made out of wood and is currently suspended in the John Phillip Sousa House in Philly. While that was his favorite piece, one of his other pieces, the Knotted Grotto, was blessed by Pope Francis XVI. Prof. Ostrov views this as one of his most significant accomplishments. More of his works are displayed in different museums and buildings across Philadelphia, such as the James Michener Museum and the John Philip Sousa House. In the future, Prof. Ostrov hopes to make a series of sculptures floating in water.

Happy Student Feature Friday! This week, we are delighted to feature Ethan Santi! Ethan is a musical theater major and is graduating at the end of the spring 2025 semester. They found their love for theater as a freshman in high school when they decided to audition for an ensemble part in their production of Shrek the Musical. Since discovering that passion, he has participated in many productions here on campus. Their favorite roles thus far have been Cadwell in Urinetown and Dogberry in Shakespeare`s Much Ado About Nothing. While being inspired by many of his professors, he is most inspired by Prof. Damon Bonetti and Prof. Shamus McCarty. During his senior year, he accomplished his goal of starting a small comedy club that he hopes will grow after graduation. The ultimate goal for Ethan is to become a voice actor later in his career. Tom Kenny greatly inspires him for his roles in one of Ethan`s favorite cartoons, Spongebob. Actors, such as Brian Cranston, have also inspired him immensely due to his roles in movies and shows that Ethan loves.
Be sure to catch him in his current role as Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing! You can get tickets from the link in our bio!
