Admissions

How to Apply

How to Apply

There are several ways students can apply for admission to the Rutgers University–Camden Fine Arts Department. Our undergraduate majors include: Art (Animation, Graphic Design, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Sculpture), Art History and Museum Studies, Music, and Theater and Film.

  1. Students can apply online here.
  2. Students can apply in person during special Arts Days and Admission Events.
  3. Students can apply in person at the university Admissions Office.

On your application, you should state the major you are interested in pursuing.

Currently we do not require portfolio reviews and auditions. However, we strongly encourage our potential students to contact us in order to schedule a portfolio review or an audition. You can also send us a link to your portfolio/recordings. If you are accepted, it will help us to learn about your work and place you into the programs and classes that fit your background and your career goals. In some cases, students with advanced portfolios/recordings have been given college credits for their previous achievements, and they are able to accelerate their college education by taking more advanced classes. Students with very strong portfolios/recordings, but lower than university standard grades/SAT scores, may be considered for conditional placement.

If you have any questions, contact our Program Coordinator Jake Hufner at jhufner@scarletmail.rutgers.edu or by phone (856) 225-2870.

We look forward to welcoming you into our artistic and academic community, and to helping you achieve your educational and career goals!

International Students

International students are an important part of our multicultural artistic and academic community at Rutgers-Camden Fine Arts Department. We are committed to providing a world-class education that will help our students become leading professionals working both in the United States and aboard.

Many of our faculty members also come from international backgrounds, and constantly work on ambitious international projects, conferences, exhibitions, and performances.

We are located between two major artistic and cultural centers—less than two hours away from New York City and just minutes away from Philadelphia. In addition to our affordable (in comparison to other leading American university art programs) and highly reputable education, our location makes our visual and performing arts program among the most desirable educational experiences in America.

International students must submit the necessary documents in order to apply for F-1 visa. In order to apply, follow university admission requirements for international students.
