SUMMARY:Play Development Series – The Wrong Track by Marlowe Miller
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the next installment of our Play Development Series at Rutgers-Camden. This ONE-DAY only reading will feature an original student play brought to life in collaboration with professional and collegiate theater artists. \nThe Wrong Track by Marlowe Miller\, Cheltenham High School\, 10th Grade \nShowtime: Saturday\, March 15th at 11am \nVenue: Rutgers-Camden\, Fine Arts Building\, 314 Linden St Camden\, NJ 08102 \nTickets are pay what you decide with a suggested donation of $15.  \n\n Reserve your ticket!\n\nAbout the Play Selection Process \nEach year\, Philadelphia Young Playwrights invites students to submit their plays and monologues to the Annual Playwriting Festival. Plays are considered by the Literary Committee—a collection of nearly 70 program alumni\, artists\, staff\, teachers\, and others—who read and write individualized responses to every play. Literary Committee members recommend a number of outstanding plays to be considered for further consideration by two additional groups of readers\, Pre-Final Committee and Final Committee. At Final Committee\, the panel selects plays and monologues for opportunities such as public productions\, one-on-one mentorship\, and one-day playwriting retreats. Students whose pieces are selected for production are invited to continue to revise and develop their plays in partnership with theater professionals as part of the rehearsal and performance process.  \nThese plays were selected from over 700 submissions from 30 different schools to be a part of our Play Development Series! Student playwrights have the opportunity to be present in the rehearsal process\, and work with local professional directors and actors to bring their writing from page to stage.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Only Child by De'von Downes
DESCRIPTION:Only Child is a collection of watercolors\, drawings\, and mixed media pieces reflecting on artist De’von Downes’s idea of “living memory\,” now through March 14 in the Campus Gallery\, located in the Campus Center. This living memory stems from a desire to honor their families\, communities\, and ancestors by honoring oneself. For as much as we receive and give love to others\, we can’t truly know their minds. So take in the colors from the pages of another’s journey and contemplate your own\, as an Only Child. \n\n\n\nGallery hours:\nMonday – Friday: 8AM – 5PM \n

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Emerging: The Stedman Gallery 50th Anniversary Show
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the Stedman Gallery’s 50th Anniversary\, Emerging presents artworks from the 700+ artworks of the Rutgers-Camden Collection of Art\, which the Stedman has stewarded since its founding in 1975. The campus’s permanent art holdings include collector-donated artworks; gifts from friends of the gallery and artists’ estates\, purchase prizes from the Stedman’s national competitions; and purchase prizes from Visual\, Media and Performing Arts (VMPA) graduating classes. Emerging highlights abstract photographs by Joe Clementi\, Eric Porter\, Tatiana Parcero\, Ken Hohing\, and former VMPA photography students\, leading us on a journey through visions of our host city of Camden\, New Jersey. These photographs enter into conversation with drawings\, prints\, and paintings that provide earlier style renderings of the city\, donated by collectors who value the artist’s eye and hand. Featuring both long treasured and recently acquired collected artworks\, Emerging honors the Stedman Gallery’s past\, present\, and future as a site for meaningful visual arts programming and collecting.\n \nGallery Hours\, Monday – Saturday\, 10:00 – 5:00\, free and open to the public
