SUMMARY:Alonzo Adams: These Eyes Have Seen Artist Talk and Closing Reception
DESCRIPTION:The Stedman Gallery at Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts presents “Alonzo Adams: These Eyes Have Seen\,” showcasing the latest works by Alonzo Adams\, a contemporary realist figurative painter and Rutgers alumnus. Adams’ paintings depict local subjects\, as well as subjects from his travels to the Caribbean and Africa\, to offer a profound exploration of Black identity and racial justice. \nAlonzo Adams (b. 1961) is a painter raised in Plainfield\, New Jersey. He earned a BFA from Rutgers-New Brunswick\, Mason Gross School of the Arts in 1984 and an MFA from University of Pennsylvania in 1991. His work has been featured in many venues\, including Howard University\, the Senate Building in Washington\, D.C.\, and the Studio Museum in Harlem. In 2004\, Adams was one of the first inductees into the Rutgers African American Alumni Alliance’s Hall of Fame. \nGallery Hours\, Monday – Saturday\, 10:00 – 5:00\, free and open to the public

DESCRIPTION:Nationally and internationally acclaimed visual artists and art collectives visit our campus to present lectures about their work and professional practices. Visiting artists and designers have a chance to meet with the students and the larger Rutgers University–Camden community to continue the dialogue about perspectives on contemporary art. The main theme of our FALL 2024 lecture series is Textiles and Objects. \n\n\n\n\nAll lectures are free and open to the public.
